ONE FILE · HOW IT WORKS

The iPhone encrypts a file. The DropOnDesk server buffers it encrypted until the PC is online. The PC decrypts, verifies and durably saves the file, then confirms receipt. The server copy is then deleted.
iPhone The original stays on the iPhone.

Private. Even from afar.

Files and filenames are end-to-end encrypted. You don’t need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. If your desktop is offline, files wait for delivery for up to 72 hours by default.

Encryption and deletion

Files are encrypted on your iPhone and decrypted only on the computer you choose. Private device keys stay on the devices. Your originals stay on your iPhone.

After the computer has verified and durably saved a file and confirmed receipt, the server deletes its encrypted copy. Uncollected files are deleted 72 hours after they become available by default. Failed deletions are retried.

The server can see the devices, data volumes and status information needed for delivery. Technical delivery and deletion confirmations are kept for a limited time; accounts and device settings remain. New accounts are created by invitation only. The receiving device’s owner controls who can send to it.
